The Three Little Pigs
Once upon a time, there were three little pigs who set out into the world to build homes of their own. Before leaving, their mother told them, “Be careful and build strong houses. The Big Bad Wolf is always lurking, and he will blow down any weak house to eat you!”
The three little pigs promised their mother they would be careful and said goodbye.
The first little pig, the youngest of the three, was eager to play and enjoy his freedom. He quickly built a house out of straw because it was the easiest and fastest way to get it done. "This will do just fine," he said to himself, and then he ran off to play.
The second little pig, a bit older and wiser, decided to use sticks to build his house. It took him a little longer than his brother, but he, too, finished quickly. "This is much stronger than straw," he said proudly, and he went off to relax.
The third little pig, the oldest and wisest, worked hard on his house. He knew that straw and sticks wouldn’t be enough to protect him from the Big Bad Wolf, so he built his house out of bricks. It was hard work, and it took him much longer to finish, but when he was done, his house was sturdy and strong.
One day, the Big Bad Wolf came to the house made of straw. He knocked on the door and said, “Little pig, little pig, let me come in!”
But the little pig answered, “Not by the hair on my chinny chin chin!”
“Then I’ll huff, and I’ll puff, and I’ll blow your house in!” the wolf threatened.
With a mighty breath, the wolf huffed and puffed, and the house of straw collapsed. The first little pig ran as fast as he could to his brother’s house made of sticks.
The wolf, not far behind, soon arrived at the house of sticks. He knocked on the door and said, “Little pigs, little pigs, let me come in!”
But the two pigs answered, “Not by the hair on our chinny chin chins!”
“Then I’ll huff, and I’ll puff, and I’ll blow your house in!” growled the wolf.
The wolf huffed and puffed, and though the house of sticks was stronger than straw, it was still no match for the wolf’s powerful breath. The house came crashing down, and the two little pigs ran as fast as they could to their brother’s brick house.
The Big Bad Wolf chased them all the way to the third little pig’s house. He arrived, licking his chops, and knocked on the door.
“Little pigs, little pigs, let me come in!” he snarled.
But the three pigs inside answered together, “Not by the hair on our chinny chin chins!”
“Then I’ll huff, and I’ll puff, and I’ll blow your house in!” shouted the wolf.
The wolf huffed and puffed with all his might, but no matter how hard he blew, the brick house stood strong. The wolf grew frustrated and tired. He tried blowing harder and harder, but the house didn’t even budge.
Angry and determined, the wolf thought of another plan. He climbed onto the roof of the brick house and decided to come down the chimney. But the third little pig, the wisest of all, had already guessed the wolf’s plan. He quickly lit a fire in the fireplace and placed a large pot of boiling water beneath the chimney.
As the wolf slid down the chimney, he yelped in surprise and pain when he landed in the boiling water. With a howl, he jumped out of the pot and ran out of the house, never to bother the three little pigs again.
The three little pigs celebrated their victory. The first two pigs realized their mistake and promised to always work as hard and be as wise as their brother. From that day on, they lived together in the strong brick house, safe and happy, knowing that hard work and smart choices are always worth the effort.
And so, the three little pigs lived happily ever after.
